'Liquid melodies and eyes closed hypnotism'; a sound that has huge personal resonance if I cast back to early explorations of electronic music. There's a confusing equilibrium that exists in music that is electronic and refined/processed, yet maintains the strongest sense of natural presence, atmosphere and texture.
Centering mostly on ALBRECHT LA'BROOY, who I'm sure some remember were put up by Four Four for the Voyage Showcase at Sugar back in January [Sean La'Brooy and Alex Albrecht], aswell as all those involved in ANALOGUE ATTIC, namely RINGS OF SATURN and SLEEP D. These dudes, based in Melbourne, integrate softer, purer sounding ambient electronic music into the dance scene. Expect deep progressive cuts; Balearic waves that are enough to float anyone's boat - a slight deviation to the cosmic vibes of Bicep, Floating Points or a Willaris K. set. Exhibit A is the duo's 'Good Morning Passengers' EP in the earlier days, which 'was created using field sounds and photographs from four stations: Richmond, Canterbury, Box Hill and Tecoma'. Subsequently it's not hard to understand how these waves sound and feel organically grown.
